位於西岸沿海一帶的石朗海域，則是綠島最受歡迎的潛水勝地，和柴口、大白沙並列為綠島三大潛水區。這裡靠近島內商家雲集的南寮村，浮潛後徒步走去用餐只要十分鐘，非常方便；南寮漁港也在不遠處，飽餐一頓再搭船出海賞鯨，多麼悠閒愜意！
石朗海域受環狀珊瑚礁所圍繞，不僅有溫暖的太平洋黑潮北流通過，附近還有湧升流，在這樣優渥的條件下，形成豐富的海洋資源，滋養了大批珍貴罕見的軟硬珊瑚，以及各式各樣的熱帶魚群，像是白穗軟珊瑚、傘形軟珊瑚、一點蝶魚、角蝶魚、桶型海綿、大旋腮蟲等，珊瑚種類達200多種，遠遠超越綠島其他潛點。
